Rye college student faces felony charges for hazing
A Tulane University student from Rye faces heavy charges for allegedly taking fraternity hazing too far.
Joseph Lorono is among 11 Pi Kappa Alpha brothers who cops say seriously burned pledges with hot water and pepper spray. Police say the incidents took place during a "hell night initiation" in April.
The New Orleans college has suspended the chapter. The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity also suspended the fraternity.
Lorono is currently home in Rye and out on bail. He and his fraternity brothers are due back in a New Orleans court in July. They face felony charges of aggravated second-degree battery and face up to 15 years in prison.
