Route 120 Bridge reopens in Chappaqua
The busy Route 120 Bridge is now officially open again in Chappaqua after a multimillion-dollar reconstruction.
The busy bridge runs over the Saw Mill River Parkway, and leads right into the center of the village.
Unofficially open since early this month, the three-year, $20 million reconstruction project was designed to update the bridge, which was originally built in 1930.
The project was overseen by the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT).
The DOT commissioner says that the project was a challenge because the bridge is located above an active railway. The bridge also had to retain its historical significance.
Landscaping and fencing around the bridge should be completed by the spring.
