It has been more than two years since Airmont native Douglas Kantor was killed in a mass shooting in Austin, Texas while visiting friends – now his family is ready to face the accused killer in court.
The trial of the accused gunman, De'ondre White, 21, is expected to begin next week following jury selection.
Kantor, 25, was one of more than a dozen people shot in a crossfire between rival groups.
"There's a part of us that's afraid to go through the trial process,” said brother Nicklaus Kantor. “Obviously, we're going to see videos we never got to see before…It's nice that we're finally going to move onto the next phase of what accepting what the loss is."
Nicklaus and his mother will be in that courtroom as White faces charges for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
News 12 has not heard back from the Travis County District Attorney's Office for comment about the case.
