Rockland County officials and members of its Jewish community stood in solidarity with the people of Israel on Tuesday evening.
The rally and candlelight vigil were to "stand in defiance of Hamas, to mourn for Israelis killed, injured, and taken captive, and embrace" the Jewish community as a whole.
Rockland has the largest concentration of Jewish residents per capita in the entire country, according to state data, and many people hold strong ties to people still living in Israel.
Tuesday's event was led by the Rockland Jewish Federation, a non-profit that leads efforts to strengthen Jewish life and meet the critical needs of the Jewish community locally, in Israel, and around the world.
