Rockland County soldiers return home from Iraq
Nearly 100 soldiers from Rockland County were reunited with their families Saturday after serving in Iraq.
Hundreds of mothers, fathers, wives and children gathered at the Orangeburg Army Reserve Center to welcome the 90 men and women from the 812th Military Police Company, who returned after a 10-month tour of duty in Iraq.
"To be away for a year and feel like you're on your own, and [then] see so many people, your family, your loved ones waiting for you," says Rodney Nunez, of New Rochelle.
The emotional homecoming in Orangeburg comes one day after President Barack Obama promised to withdraw all American combat troops from Iraq by September of next year.
