A seminar was held today at the Fire Training Center in Pomona on how to identify an illegal multi-family home.
Officials pointed out how to look for evidence such as multiple mailboxes and doorbells.
“It’s important that people know - the inspectors, the code enforcement officers, the town attorneys that are dealing with this in each of their municipalities - that they’re obtaining this information appropriately, legally, that will hold up in court,” said Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann.
If you recognize an illegal home in your neighborhood, you can file a complaint with your town supervisor or the local police department.
