Rob Astorino criticizes Gov. Andrew Cuomo over property taxes for his Mount Kisco home
Westchester County Executive and Republican candidate for governor Rob Astorino accused Gov. Andrew Cuomo of cheating on his property taxes during a news conference Thursday in Chappaqua.
Astorino says Cuomo and his girlfriend, Food Network personality Sandra Lee, refuse to let the New Castle Town Assessor look at significant improvements made to their Mount Kisco house.
"What is he hiding? That's what everyone wants to know," Astorino said at the press conference. "What is he hiding and what is he potentially lying about?" Astorino was joined by several homeowners who say they will also refuse access by assessors in protest of Cuomo's actions.
Cuomo and Lee are not legally required to let the assessor into his house. But people at Astorino's news conference say Cuomo should lead by example.
A spokesman for Cuomo's campaign responded by saying Astorino is engaging in "small-town Republican politics."
