Yankees legend Mariano Rivera traded Yankee pinstripes for a Hall of Fame jersey Wednesday at a news conference alongside the class of 2019.
Rivera was joined by fellow newly inducted Hall of Famers Mike Mussina and Edgar Martinez. Pitcher Roy Halladay, who died in 2017, was also voted in.
The Westchester resident spent 19 years with the Yankees, working his way up from the minor leagues to become the first-ever unanimous Hall of Fame selection.
"It was an amazing feeling. Knowing that you were voted 100 percent, I can't comprehend it," says Rivera.
Rivera earned those votes by compiling the most saves in baseball history.
"It's amazing and coming here and doing it on the big stage ... Yankee fans are the best," says Rivera.
Rivera said his favorite moment as a Yankee wasn't setting any records or winning World Series titles, it was putting on the pinstripes every day.
