Volunteers in Co-op City are building a community garden.
Community members say the idea for Rivers Run Community Garden, which had its ribbon-cutting ceremony today, was planted awhile ago.
They say the green space will hopefully contain 35,000-square feet of vegetables, herbs and flowers by spring.
Moving forward, Assemblyman Michael Benedetto is trying to get a $125,000 grant dedicated to the garden to help preserve its beauty.
