Westchester officials are warning that 1 to 3 inches of snow may fall every hour until the storm subsides, with high wind gusts - especially along the coastline.

Officials are urging everyone to stay home and off the roads.

They say county police are going to be spread so thin with different tasks and emergency calls that may not be able to get to stranded drivers as quickly as they would like.

Westchester officials say the storm is not hitting during peak traffic hours, which is a good thing.

People flocked to stores earlier Wednesday for last-minute storm prep items.

Louis Bastone, the owner of Chappaqua Paint & Hardware, says foot traffic quadrupled because of the storm. 

He says the usual storm items sold out quickly, such as shovels, ice melt and sleds.

Employees at Key Foods Marketplace off Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers say the store has been flooded with residents stocking up on food. Water and other basics were nearly sold out by 9 p.m. Wednesday.

News 12 is told there were already 11 disabled vehicles on roadways across Westchester County Wednesday night.

Bronx River Parkway had one closure and part of Saw Mill River Parkway was closed, but News 12 was not told where specifically.
