Residents: Stench rises from dead carp
Residents of West Nyack where dead carp were found in the Hackensack River say the stench may be bad, but they're not concerned about potential health risks.
"If you go near the water on Western Highway or if you go near the water in the back near the woods ? it smells like rotted fish," says Barbara Leonti. Leonti says she's not concerned about her health, but does feel for the dozens of carp that have turned up dead.
A probe into the carp deaths by the state Department of Environmental Conservation is expected to be completed in two weeks.
