A small crowd gathered at the Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla Friday for the 11th annual Veterans Remembrance Service.
This year a special tribute was paid to local veterans who died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Phil Adameri lost his friend Jim Moore when the Air Force needed volunteers to serve in Vietnam.
"Please don't thank a veteran for their service this weekend because it's not about us," said Adameri. "It's about those who didn't come home."
The Hudson Valley will be holding many more ceremonies this weekend for Memorial Day.
