One neighborhood in Rockland was left without heat and electricity after a car crash during Saturday's snowstorm.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Piermont Avenue and Smith Street after a driver sped down a hill and went straight into a telephone pole, bringing down power lines.
Resident Ken Goodman was working in his basement early Saturday morning when he heard a loud boom in front of his home.
He says that when he ran outside to see what happened, he spotted a black SUV on its side, but realized the driver had fled.
"Within minutes I was outside," he says. "It had just happened, wheels still spinning."
Some neighbors say they heard the car the driver was in was stolen.
There is currently no word on what happened to the driver.
Residents say they made the best of the situation by lighting fires and bringing food and drinks to emergency workers called in to repair the damage.
Officials say power was restored for the majority of people before midnight Saturday.
