A cab driver was brutally murdered in Yonkers early Sunday morning.
Police say John Alli, 46, was traveling south in his cab on Riverdale Avenue honking his horn around 5 a.m. After he stopped the car, several people approached the vehicle and saw the dying driver?s throat had been slashed.
Authorities believe Alli may have been transporting a passenger from New York City when he was found in Yonkers. Police say the killer?s motive may have been robbery.
The incident happened not too far from the site where another driver was killed in May. Geraldo Gutierrez, 29, was fatally stabbed after taking a Tuckahoe teenager to Yonkers.
Anyone with information on the killing is urged to contact the Yonkers Police Department at (914) 377-7724 or (914) 963-2526.
