Republican Al Donohue returns as Buchanan's mayor
Voters in Buchanan went to the polls Tuesday and elected former Republican Mayor Al Donohue to another term as mayor.
The Buchanan mayor?s race was the only contested one in Westchester. Democratic Incumbent Dan O?Neill chose not to run for reelection, but Donohue returned to the race after his defeat in 2002.
Donohue beat Democratic Village Trustee Gary Bell in a tight race, by just 17 votes once all the results were in.
Donohue told News 12 Westchester the keys to his victory were great running mates and residents? anger over large tax increases seen in the previous administration. He says his immediate goals are to deal with the tax issue and bring revenue into the village.
