Report: Plumber confesses in NYC explosion
A plumber has confessed to illegally tapping a gas line which caused the deadly building explosion in the East Village two weeks ago, according to a published report.
According to the New York Post, the plumber was told to set up an illegal natural gas siphon by the son of the landlord, Maria Hyrnenko of Rockland County.
The report claims that Hyrnenko's son, Michael Hrynenko Junior, 29, was at the building before the explosion, along with general contractor Dilber Kukic, of The Bronx. Hrynenko Jr. was injured in the explosion and had to be helped to safety by Kukic.
Authorities are reportedly considering whether to give the unidentified plumber a plea deal or use his statements against him.
