Longtime Nanuet High School principal Dr. Vincent Carella has been reassigned amid allegations of rape and sexual harassment against him, a report says.
The district superintendent said in a statement that Carella was immediately reassigned following a "personal matter," adding a recent internal investigation involving the principal has been widely speculated about in the community.
That personal matter, according to the Journal News, has to do with Carella being accused of rape and years of sexual harassment by another teacher.
The superintendent says the allegations in a notice of claim against Carella are just allegations at this point.
The district says no students are involved.
News 12 is told that director of guidance Michael Mahoney will take over as the school's acting principal.
