A new study finds that New Jersey has one of the lowest divorce rates in the country.
But there is one town in the Garden State that has a divorce rate of about double the state average.
Financial news organization 24/7 Wall Street published a list of the zip codes in each state with the highest divorce rates. They found that Crestwood Village has a divorce rate of 16.4 percent. The state average is only 8.5 percent.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with some Crestwood Village residents about that they thought about the study. Some were in fact divorced. But others were happily married.
The town is home to many retired members of the Baby Boomer generation who divorced at a high rate. The town also has residents who make a lower to moderate income, which can often be a factor in divorce.
The study counts as divorced anyone who filled out their census information as divorced and hadn’t remarried.
