Ryan visited New Windsor School in Orange County where he joined students and faculty in handwriting messages to local veterans and veteran caregivers.
The congressman said he was honored to launch his inaugural program as a way to say thank you to those who protected the country.
Ryan is a West Point graduate and served in the Army.
