Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney was in Newburgh Thursday to announce the Delivering for America Act.
Rep. Maloney says under the act, $25 billion in aid will be awarded to the post office. He says the funds are urgently needed to reverse delays in mail service ahead of an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots this election.
"We know during the pandemic vote by mail will be more important than ever," says Rep. Maloney. "New Yorkers especially will depend on the post office to vote by mail. And I don't care who you vote for, I don't care what your politics are you should be able to vote by mail."
The Delivering for America Act recently passed in Congress with bipartisan support. So far, however, the Senate has not considered voting on the bill.
