Real estate attorney gets 10 years for stealing
A once well-respected real estate attorney was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years and one month in prison for stealing money from his clients.
Anthony Bellettieri, 53, of Pleasantville, admitted to stealing $22 million from the clients who trusted him with their life savings. Bellettieri confessed to using some of the money to make improvements on his home, and even said he used part of it to pay for his daughter's wedding.
Michael Williams is just one person duped out of his money. He lost his life savings of $200,000, which was supposed to help buy his grandson a home in Harrison. Theresa and Arthur Lofstrom also lost money after Chase Bank recommended Bellettieri when they were buying their Putnam Valley townhouse. They say they are still struggling with money, but were told by the judge that they will eventually get it back.
Bellettieri was granted time to spend with his family for the holidays. He must turn himself in on December 26.
