The Ralph's Italian Ices in Mamaroneck has shut down.

Its owner voluntarily shut down the business Saturday due to a health permit expiration, however, he says he will continue the fight to keep his store open. 

The controversy started when the store was allowed to open under a retail permit rather then a restaurant.

Some neighbors in the area have been concerned about parking and safety, as well as the noise that comes from the shop.

A petition to keep Ralph's open will be presented to the Mamaroneck village board Monday at 7 p.m.
