An overpass over the Taconic State Parkway was dedicated Friday to the area’s first responders.

The Pudding Street overpass was renamed Putnam Valley First Responders Bridge.

Before the construction of the overpass, motorists traveling on Pudding Street needed to cross both sides of traffic, creating a sometimes dangerous situation.

“Living here in Roaring Brook, I was always one of the first firefighters to arrive on the scene at these accidents,” said Putnam County firefighter Michael Maculski. “So, it was something that we really appreciated when they built this overpass. It just makes it so much safer for all the people that use it"
