The Putnam County Department of Health says it has confirmed three cases of measles.

Two of the three cases involved Putnam County residents. The other measles patient is from Connecticut. All three have been isolated.

Nurses at the Health Department say they have administered six immunizations as they work to get in touch with roughly 90 people who have been exposed to the disease.

Doctors say they are seeking to inform the public that anyone inside the Subway restaurant in Patterson on April 29 or at Decicco's store in Brewster on May 1 could have been exposed.

Dr. Michael Nesheiwat, the Putnam County health commissioner, says the disease stems from "an international traveling family from France" that made their way to New York City.

Dr. Nesheiwat says measles symptoms include fever, red eyes and a rash. He says symptoms generally take seven to 21 days to appear.

He added that anyone born before 1957 should be immune.
