Protesters rallied on the steps of the Federal Courthouse in White Plains in support of immigrants detained by federal agents.

Community leaders told News 12 that six fathers from the Hudson Valley have been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, agents in the past nine months. They say they had been living in the United States for years and working to support their families.

News 12 was told that four of the men are in an Alabama prison, while two others are being detained in Louisiana.

Activists say the six men have not had a trial or the ability to fight their detention.

"They don't represent a danger to the community. They're not a threat to the United States. They are not terrorists. They are not criminals. They are people who work every day. Their only crime is being undocumented and trying to find a better life for the future," said Luis Yumbla, of the Hudson Valley Community Coalition.

Up to 40 family members and supporters of the six men say they plan to travel to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday to plead with congressmen to release their loved ones.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will be among a few politicians who plan to meet with the affected family members in D.C.
