Protesters rallied outside government offices in Goshen Monday saying the County Board of Elections has denied their request for outside poll inspectors in Kiryas Joel.
Election concerns got stirred up last week when a recorded phone call with a commissioner was made public. The conversation discussed how outside poll inspectors were denied on primary day in the Hasidic Village of Kiryas Joel, amid ongoing concerns of voter fraud.
"It's very easy for people to get all fired up and throw out misleading allegations, but they're really missing the point," says Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus. "The direction of all the concern and fire today should've been at the Board of Elections."
Neuhaus went on to say that the county attorney has advised election officials not to single out Kiryas Joel, and that there's still time for them to change it up and put outside poll inspectors in each polling location countywide.
