Dozens of people gathered in Rockland County to protest an NRA fundraiser Sunday.
Hundreds of NRA members were at the 26th annual fundraiser at the Pearl River Hilton but proponents of stricter gun laws were not far behind.
Protest co-organizer Joseph Coe says that they aren't trying to take away people's Second Amendment rights, but are just pushing for safety.
Meanwhile, others say the NRA and its members shouldn't be held responsible for crimes committed by others.
"No NRA member was part of any of these mass shootings," said Nick Woodward, of Tappan. "And we won't take none of the responsibility."
After the public outcry, owners of the Pearl River Hilton issued a statement on Facebook saying that they will donate the net proceeds from the NRA event to organizations working to help Rockland County.
