Two suspects were arraigned Saturday in connection to the fatal shooting of a man in Copiague earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 4 p.m. when Jewuel Hanson was killed outside an auto repair shop at 70 Court St.
According to investigators, David Nolan, 22, of Queens was the gunman. Officials say 29-year-old Christopher Mohan was an accomplice who provided the pistol and drove the getaway car.
The shop's owner Rolly Mohan says Christopher Mohan is his nephew, and the victim was a family friend.
In court, prosecutors said the suspected shooter ditched his 9 mm pistol in a dumpster several blocks away from the scene. Investigators say that weapon has a seven-round capacity. They say two bullets were still in the gun when they found it, and other five shell casings were spotted near the victim.
Both suspects pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges.
The victim's friends and relatives who packed the court room Saturday say it's only a matter of time before they get justice for Jewuel.
“We're going to be able to put him at peace because we know they're going to do their time like they should,” said Emily Gouveia, the victim’s fiancée.
