The investigation into the events that led to the death of a middle-aged Peekskill husband and wife and the arrest of the wife's son continued Monday.
Police say firefighters responded to 737 Lindbergh Ave. at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and discovered the bodies of Cathy and Thomas Asero near the back of their home.
Authorities arrested Cathy Asero's son, 32-year-old Jason Bethea, and charged him with one count of second-degree murder, though police have not divulged whether the charge is for the death of Cathy or Thomas Asero.
"What we did find supported the charge. I can't be anymore candid at this time because it is a very sensitive investigation," says Chief Eugene Tumolo, of the Peekskill Police Department.
Police say it is still unclear if the couple was killed before the fire broke out or if they died in the blaze. It is still unclear if the fire was deliberately set.
