Probe in fatal fire turns to survivors
Investigators probing a Yonkers fire last week that killed a city firefighter are hoping interviews with two injured colleagues will shed more light on what happened inside 149 Wavery St.
Authorities say the priority before speaking with firefighter Willima Kanych and Lt. Joseph Murray is their health. Murray, who broke his ribs and punctured his lung, is undergoing surgery at Jacobi Medical Center.
Firefighter Patrick Joyce, 39, was forced to jump to his death from a third-story window because of intense heat.
Police say 33-year-old Rafael Roldan has admitted to starting the fire in which Joyce was killed.
