Pace University Law School honored Dr. Sarah Weddington at the Pioneer of Justice Awards brunch on Saturday. Dr. Weddington has the distinction of being the youngest female lawyer to win a case before the United States Supreme Court. She was just 27 years old when she stood before the nine men of the Supreme Court in 1973 and argued for a woman?s right to have an abortion. The case, Roe v. Wade, made abortion legal in the United States. She told her luncheon audience she is very concerned about the future of Roe v. Wade. She said the current political climate and the changing make-up of the court could reverse the decision and take away a woman?s right to choose.
