A panel of politicians, journalists and historians took part in the 33rd annual President's Forum event at Westchester Community College in Valhalla Sunday.
Westchester County natives John Berman of CNN's "New Day" show and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, along with other people experienced in political science and national issues, discussed how the country has changed under the Trump administration.
The panelists agreed that the country is very divided on immigration, the economy and social issues, and that many who disapprove of the president are now voting Democrat.
The panel pointed out that many voters flipped who they voted for during the midterm elections last week - with reasons ranging from women's rights to the economy to immigration issues.
Fleischer, the former press secretary and spokesperson for President George W. Bush, said while the political world we live in may seem unheard of, it really isn't the first time the country has questioned a president.
"It's also a phase we're going through and it won't last, and whoever follows him is likely going to be a unifying candidate because the country gets tired of one type, and changes election, and brings in a different type," he says.
