Premier Lacrosse League announces ‘quarantined and fanless’ tournament this summer
The Premier Lacrosse League has announced it will play a televised two-week championship series this summer.
The quarantined and fanless tournament is scheduled to run from July 25 through Aug. 9.
According to the PLL: “The league's seven teams will compete in a fourteen-game group play format to determine seeding for the following week’s single-elimination tournament.”
The PLL is the first professional sports league to announce a comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic put major sports leagues on hold or hiatus.
PLL co-Founder Paul Rabil told the Sports Business Daily that the tournament is “an opportunity to continue to push forward to try to capture mass eyeballs and then be able to fulfill and add new sponsorships.”
Details and game schedules can be found at PLL’s website
