John Cooney, Jr., of the Construction Industry Council of Westchester, says money generated by the legalization of marijuana could be spent on infrastructure in his “Pot for Potholes” proposal.
“It could be a revenue enhancer to the state and that money could be spent on infrastructure,” he told News 12.
News 12 is told that Cooney and other labor leaders presented their out of the box ideas regarding highway funding to state lawmakers who have yet to decide.
Some residents seem to agree with Cooney’s proposal.
“That's a smart idea. Legalizing marijuana could pay for more than potholes," says Halstead.
