Port Chester's recently laid-off paid firefighters turned in their gear Tuesday. The firefighters had been trying to keep their jobs for nearly a month after the city laid them off due to budget cuts.

Port Chester's recently laid-off paid firefighters turned in their gear Tuesday.
The firefighters had been trying to keep their jobs for nearly a month after the city laid them off due to budget cuts.
Despite protests, the village and Fire Chief Edward Quinn haven't changed their decision to replace paid firefighters with volunteers.
Rye Brook currently pays for Port Chester to staff its firehouse overnight. It is suing Port Chester to get the firefighters back.
