After neighbors made complaints about suspicious activity coming from a Port Chester apartment, police went undercover and arrested five people on prostitution charges.
Police say an undercover detective went into the apartment on Grove Street and paid a man $40 for a ticket. After being led to a back room to meet a woman for sex, police then started arresting people. Fernando Cortes, 27, and Alex Perez Maldonado, 29, both of Queens, were busted for promoting prostitution. Police say the two men rented the place and ran the business. Mirna Chacon, 24, and Helia Velasquez, 31, were arrested for prostitution. Police also arrested a Port Chester man for patronizing a prostitute.
The police say usually prostitution houses involve people from out of town, who rent places under the guise of being a family.
