Students at Port Chester High School are showing their dismay to one of the school district's policies Wednesday.At issue for the students is being allowed to leave the campus. According to the students, they should be allowed to go out and are upset that they are being forced to stay inside. Some are wearing orange to reflect their opinion that they are being treated like prisoners.School officials say the students are complaining about an issue that is black and white. School Superintendent Donald Carlisle says the district is simply taking extra steps to enforce a policy that wasn't being enforced. According to Carlisle, the district's policy has clearly stated that underclassmen are prohibited from leaving the campus.In an effort to make sure the students do not leave the campus, Carlisle says the school will have extra hall monitors to keep an eye on students. He is also considering using a golf cart to patrol the campus because of its size.
