Owners of a Stamford music store are closing their doors after 70 years of business.
Connecticut Music on Newfield Avenue has been at the same location since 1987.
It was also on Bedford Street for 20 years, and in the heart of Stamford for 20 years before that.
Connecticut Music was instrumental in making so many great memories and helped so many artists make great music.
Joe Roberts, whose father originally started the store, says since his brother Mike died in January it’s been hard to keep up with demand.
"We didn’t make a lot of money in this business but if we were judged by our friends we'd be wealthy," a teary-eyed Roberts says.
Thousands of people have come through the doors of the music shop, including many famous artists who signed their names on a large illustrated poster of the shop. Names like Harry Connick Junior and a member of the rock band Lynard Skynard.
Mario Socci says he's been coming to Connecticut Music for over 40 years.
"They would bend over backwards for everybody, everybody was important, everybody was acknowledged when they walked through this door," Socci said.
Roberts says he plans to continue to repair guitars at his house.
The store will be closed by the end of the month. The building is slated to be replaced by a gas station expansion next door.
