Governor Spitzer (D-NY) spoke at a church service in Mount Vernon Sunday, with his budget being the main topic of discussion.Democratic officials were invited to respond to the governor's ideas at a brunch in Yorktown. Regarding Spitzer?s plans for education, many officials said schools must control costs. Health care in Westchester was also a key point of debate, as the governor proposed spending cuts that include closing struggling hospitals.George Oros, the Republican leader for the County Board of Legislators, said he believes the proposed budget is off target when it comes to slashing health spending. Oros says he wants the governor to go after trial lawyers, HMOs and big insurance companies he says makes a profit off health care systems.
