A police standoff in Yonkers ended peacefully Tuesday after a man called claiming to have killed his girlfriend and threatened to shoot any officers who came near him.
Heavily armed police surrounded an apartment house on Beaumont Circle after receiving a call around 3 p.m. The caller said he had slit his girlfriend?s throat and he had an assault rifle that he would use on police. Police cordoned off the road and parts of Central Park Avenue until 36-year-old Robert Fata simply walked out of his house less than an hour later.
Police say there was no murder and no weapons were found. While police say Fata is no stranger to them, they are investigating whether he made the call or someone impersonating him made the call.
