Police are searching for the gunman who fatally shot an underground rapper in Yonkers Wednesday night.
Police say Fontay Shaw, 30, was talking with a group of friends on Riverdale Avenue when a masked gunman shot him three times in the back.
Investigators believe Shaw?s murder might have been gang-related. Friends say the rapper was part of a group called the Hash Kings, and he often sang about gun violence, drugs and life on the streets. Police are trying to determine whether Shaw?s lyrics may have led to his murder.
The rapper had at least one past drug arrest. In March 2004, police seized crack, heroin and marijuana during a raid from his home in Cromwell Towers.
Yonkers police still have not identified a suspect or a motive in the killing.
