Police have released new details about two arrests made in connection with a fatal fire in Goshen.
State police held a news conference this morning at their headquarters in Middletown, speaking for the first time about the alleged murder of 81-year-old Helen Mills.
Officials say 17-year-old Jennifer Moylneaux, of Wallkill, and 19-year-old Devin Giordano, of Goshen, bludgeoned Mills while burglarizing her home for cash and then setting fire to it.
Police say the couple knew of Mills through her grandson, but would not confirm reports that he provided them with keys to get in to her home. Police say the burglary was drug-fueled, and that Moylneaux hinted about her involvement in the alleged murder to family members, who then turned her in.
According to officials, Moylneaux was found with wounds on her body and her boyfriend, Giordano, was found with proceeds from the burglary.
The suspects are being held without bail.
State police say no charges have been filed against the victim's grandson.
