Police on high alert after 5 injured in 2 separate attacks in Yonkers
Five people in Yonkers were wounded this weekend in two separate incidents.
The surge in violence has prompted police to step up their presence in the streets.
On Saturday, two adults and a 9-year-old girl were shot outside a pizzeria on Palisades Avenue, prompting Mayor Mike Spano's promise for safer streets.
Hours after the news conference, two people were stabbed on Elm Street in the same neighborhood where the mayor promised to take back the streets.
While police are on high alert, some residents say they are not confident change will come.
No arrests have been made in either case.
