New Rochelle police and the school district are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly took place at the high school between two students.

Police say they learned of the allegation on Wednesday, but the incident may have happened in sometime in the past.

The school district has sent a letter home to parents that called the allegations "extremely concerning."

School officials say they immediately notified law enforcement and began their internal investigation. District officials are cooperating with police.

In response, school counselors and support professionals are available to all students who need assistance at this time.
