Police say a domestic dispute in Mount Vernon turned violent after a man stabbed his girlfriend.

Authorities were called to 120 S. 12th Ave. just before midnight Monday after neighbors say they heard a young woman screaming after allegedly being slashed by her boyfriend. The man was taken into custody by police.

Police also searched the house and reportedly recovered a weapon inside. The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center.
