Police have arrested a man they say killed his mother and her husband in Peekskill Saturday night.
Police say 32-year-old Jason Bethea killed his mother, Cathy Asaro, and her husband, Thomas. It is believed that Bethea may have set a blaze at the couple's Lindbergh Avenue home to cover up the crime. Arson investigators were at the home Sunday searching for evidence.
Neighbors say Asaro and her husband, who were both 51 years old, were new to the neighborhood. They had lived in the Lindbergh Avenue house for only 15 months, but were said to be very friendly people.
Bethea has been charged with second-degree murder, and police say more charges are expected. He is awaiting arraignment in Peekskill.
