Police are investigating a serious crash involving a school that shut down a major road in Dutchess County on Friday.
It happened in the northbound lanes of Route 9 in Wappingers Falls, south of Myers Corners Road late Friday afternoon.
A mini school bus was seen slammed into the back of a BMW SUV. It's unclear if any children were on the bus.
Police on scene confirmed another BMW sedan went off the road and down an embankment. Wrecking crews pulled the badly damaged car up onto a tow truck.
Witnesses say they saw at least three ambulances rush to the scene. There is no word on the severity of any injuries.
New York State Police investigators spent hours collecting evidence and interviewing victims.
Route 9 has fully reopened since the incident.
