Police investigate drive-by shooting in Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left one man wounded and locked down a nearby school Wednesday. Police say two men were sitting in a car on Elliot Street at about 1 p.m.

Mount Vernon police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left one man wounded and locked down a nearby school Wednesday.
Police say two men were sitting in a car on Elliot Street at about 1 p.m. when another car pulled alongside them and started shooting. The man in the driver?s seat was shot once in the arm and taken to the hospital. The passenger was unharmed.
The shooting occurred across the street from the Graham Elementary Magnet School. The school was placed on lockdown for security reasons immediately following the incident.
