Police in Harrison on alert following two possible child abductions
Two incidents involving possible child abductions last week have prompted police in Harrison to be on alert.
According to police, five children playing on a sidewalk on Park Avenue were approached Friday by a car. The man and woman inside offered the kids candy in a Christmas stocking. Then less than two hours later, police say a man in a SUV approached two teenage girls on Calvert Street and asked if they needed a ride. The girls ran off and reported the incident to their parents, who then notified the police.
Police say in both incidents, none of the adults involved tried to force any of the children into their vehicles. Regardless, Captain Anthony Marriccini says the behavior is clearly inappropriate.
