Police: I-87 traffic stop leads to $100,000 drug bust
A man is being held without bail after state police say a routine traffic stop led to a cocaine and marijuana bust of more than $100,000 Saturday.
State police say a trooper stopped 29-year-old Dion Ward's vehicle on I-87 in Ardsley after he allegedly made an unsafe lane change. The trooper allegedly found two kilos of cocaine and more than one pound of marijuana.
Officials believe Ward is a drug runner who was on his way home to Buffalo from New York City. Authorities say the suspect has refused to talk to them.
Ward, who is on probation for a 2007 drug offense, is charged with two felony counts of drug possession. If convicted, he could be sent to prison for 25 years to life.
